SUBJECTIVE REALITIES

When she proclaims

with most serious conviction

that she completely believes that

“Everything happens for a reason . . .

and in it’s right time,”

Some might comment:

~~~
“I think we have this
backwards –life
is a lot
of random chance.
It doesn’t happen
for a reason,
but if you respond
with compassionate awareness,
you will grow stronger
in adversity.
Thus IT
just happens,
but we can
GIVE
it a reason.”
~~~

She stands firm

in her choice

of viewing life

her way

with all due

respect of the different

perspectives

of ‘the others,’

Staying true

to her-ownself

habitually

her response continues

to be:

~~~
“It is difficult
for me to connect
random, chance and accident
with purpose, reason and divine timing,
so for the now,
I will stick to
the philosophy
I accept
from behind my [spectacles]
of rosey tinted glass,
compassionately
thank you
for your [good intentioned]
 interaction,
and skip down the path
of the journey
that has been laid down
‘specially for me.”
THE PROCESS OF LAMINATION
THE PROCESS OF LAMINATION
 In the process of bonding
with the inference of
permanency
you and I
affix ourselves
with individual glue
one to the other
manufactured in the paradoxically
higher and deeper levels
multi-layers of
Mind, Body, Heart & Spirit
assembly accelerated through
the influence of
high heat
fueled by
high voltage
electrical current
grains melting
into one grain
seamless adherence
a parallel
one to another.
In this process
two individuals become
one entity
of more
(more, more, more, more, more)
uniform strength
and dimensional stability
than either of the entities possessed
prior to
the occurrence of
our Lamination.
IN THE INTEREST OF FAIRNESS
It appears that man"kind"
is more the problem
than the solution
to the ever increasing loss of rain forests,
the polar ice caps
our polluted oceans, rivers and streams,
 and the disappearance of the majestic species of the animal kingdom.
I wonder . . .
if the animals were in charge of the  thinning out…
PAMPAKES AND TEDDY BEARS
(THE STORY – PART 2)
PAMPAKES AND TEDDY BEARS
“Grandpa’s on his way”
said Dad,
“We’re gonna have pancakes for breakfast and after that we’re gonna open presents!”
A few minutes later, Grandpa Bob walked in
with arms full of wrapped boxes.
He always smelled of
cigarettes,
coffee,
Old Spice cologne
and peppermints.
He dropped the gifts on the sofa,
scooped me up in his arms
and covered every inch of my bare skin
with sand-papery-stiff-whisker-stubbled kisses.
“Tootie,”
he said,
“I brought you a special present today.
Wanna open it now?”
“Ohhhhh nooooooo, we can’t.”
I replied
while shaking my head
with grave seriousness.
“We’re having pampakes for breakfast.”
Grandpa broke into loud reverberatingly-deep laughter
 jostled me in his arms
and sing-songed
“We’re gonna have us some pampakes for breakfest,
Oh, yes we are.  Aren’t we?”
until we reached the breakfast table.
Grandpa repeated this story a gazillion times to me
and to whomever would listen,
 throughout the rest of his life.
It was wonderful to me
that I had influenced one of his happy memories.
From that day forward,
especially at breakfast time,
he referred to pancakes
as “Pampakes”
and . . . so did I.
And so do I still.
My gift from Grandpa Bob was a large, creamy-brown teddy bear.  I named him Cubby Bear.  I related to Cubby and purposely breathed my spirit into him so that he would have a soul.  He became my constant companion for the next 8 years, a symbol of my connection to my Grandpa, a symbol of my unwavering love for the Animal Spirits and a comfort to me through much physical sickness and emotional angst.
When Cubby
was called to the ‘Nother Places,’
I grieved the loss of him.
True to form,
I am still grieving.
 Five things that are consistantly/habitually and physically present in my daily life are:
1)  Coffee
2)  Cigarettes
3)  Scents/Aroma Therapies and Perfumes (Especially bay rum and mint)
4)  Peppermint Gum in my purse
5)  The love of all things relating to the Animal Spirits
Grandpa Bob lives on through me in our shared memory.
CYNIC GRATITUDE
When she proclaims
to him
with most serious conviction
that she completely believes
that
“Everything happens for a reason . . .
and in it’s right time,”
He nods,
and smiles
from inside-out
and with only the most subtle
roll of his eyes
affectionately responds
“Yes. . .  I know you do.”
~ G
(In gratitude for The Cynic, who lives and loves from the other side of the fence.)
"What is man without the beasts?
If all the beasts were gone,
men would die
For whatever happens to the beasts,
soon happens to man.
All things are connected."
FEELS LIKE RAIN
More’n a few times
we challenged each other
via the written word.
These times were among
the best times of my life.
We took turns
choosin’ the subject.
One of us’d write first
 The other’d write in response.
  On one such occasion,
with John Hiatt playin’ in the background,
I threw out the title
“It Feels Like Rain.”
The Ace of Spades
pulled out his notebook . . .
and a pen . . .
and begin to write
for me.
“Feelin’ like rain
and doing something
about it
are two different things
one of us
doesn’t appear
any smarter than the other,
but one of us
has to run get the slickers
The other the rubbers.”
With a wickedly adorable smile in his eyes
he handed me the paper.
He’d left plenty of room for me to write
for him.
I responded
“Who’s gonna be the first to
get the slickers
or the rubbers?
fear convinces us of the need
for protective gear.
I say,
forget the rubbers,
It’s too late
for a slicker…
I’m already wet.”
Ten years have gone
he stayed here
I went there
I’ll have that scrap of paper until
I pass on to the ‘nother places.
And boy,
I sure do miss
The Ace of Spades
“The maker of a sentence
launches out into
the infinite
and builds a road
into chaos
and old night,
and is followed
by those who hear him
with something of wild, creative delight.”
~RALPH WALDO EMERSON
Dedicated to those of us who “follow”
in the infinite pursuit
of the discovery
of meaning
within carefully sculpted words.
